Evolution of Sound - Violin
Evolution of Sound
One of the things you see here is the aptly named F-hole in a violin. It allows sound to escape the hollow body of the instrument which amplifies the sound of the vibrating strings. What you can't see is the hundreds of years of evolution it took to get from the round holes initially carved in the violin's predecessor to what you see here. There are other versions of violins out there, from electric to Savart, but I'm a fan of the classic curves of this vintage model. Great for the music lover in your life or the music lover in you.
